The rump roast is great for crock pots or jerky!
Throw the roast in a crock pot, instant pot, dutch oven, or however you cook your conventional roasts and cook until tender. Instructions are the same and your favorite roast recipes will apply.

Serve with your choice of sides like potato salad, greens, etc. and you'll be in hog... heaven? Hmmm, yak... heaven? I don't know but this recipe is my guilty pleasure and it may or may not be for everyone.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 5 garlic cloves, diced
- 1 cup of Sweet Baby Rays Sweet 'n Spicy BBQ sauce
- 1 cup of beef stock
- 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar
- 5 Peaches, peeled and diced
- 1 Tbsp of your favorite steak seasoning
- 2 tsp of dry mustard
- 1 tsp of chipotle chili powder
- 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup of bourbon
- Light salt
- Light olive oil
Preparation
- Take yak roast and season it with the steak seasoning, dry mustard, and light salt. Rub it in all sides and sear in a hot pan with olive oil. Once all sides of roast are seared, set aside on a plate.
- Sautee your onions and garlic in that same pan and once finished; pour in the bourbon, let it reduce for maybe 15-30 seconds and turn off the burner.
- Add all ingredients to your means of roasting (crock pot, dutch oven, etc.) and cook it like a roast until tender.
